DIRECTING

Emma believes directing is about service; to serve the story, to serve your collaborators, and to serve the audience. Additionally, she is always looking for assistant directing opportunities. Emma is a forever student of the theatre - always looking to expand her own knowledge and practices, while adding to her toolkit and gaining valuable in-the-room experiences.

As a director, Emma specializes in musical theatre. She is drawn in by the collaborative nature of bringing together song, movement, storytelling, and visual design. Some moments are too big for words alone, and Emma is passionate about presenting theatrically in a way that still feels intimate and important.
Emma believes musical theatre should be allowed to get a little messy, and because of this she specifically enjoys doing rock musicals. Thematically, Emma is attracted to female centric stories, shows that focus on community, anything that has to do with queerness, and she is a sucker for an underdog.
Everything must and always will go back to the story when working with Emma.
